That sounded snarky. It wasn't meant to be. Having dealt with the high probability of imminent death at a relatively early age, the idea of an end stopped being scary.

But, an ending chapter filled with pain and suffering was a much harder pill to swallow. And, I don't mean mine alone. Loss is so hard. Knowing those left behind would suffer is heavier in a way. Especially for parents who outlive their children (I assumed).
