I guess this does motivate me to find a term more couched upon statistical physics though (which is the real foundation of my model). If we're having this discussion, it kinda means the term doesn't work well even between subject-matter experts.

Well homophily tries to somewhat capture it. But also, you have Schellings work in group formation absent individual agency.

Yea. That's true. Homophily + motivated cognition gets close. And, no, not sure I have. Link, please? My section on social power is by far the worst of my dissertation right now...

Uhh lemme see. It’s a bit dated both in method & subject matter but basically he showed that racialized spatial stratification doesn’t require conscious prejudice using an evolutionary game theory model.

Oh, wait -- the segregation model?

Yeah. The model is problematic bc it’s meant to be somewhat exculpatory but I think it does the exact opposite ( it shows structural racism doesn’t require individual agency)

Ah yea, I have -- I just forgot it applied lol. But yes, pretty relevant here. An impressive model that "makes sense" to either people who want to show either racism is just preferential selection and those who want to demonstrate structural racism absent agency....

While later researched demonstrated that empirically, it just doesn't work that well.

The Schelling model? Yeah I see it has interesting from an intellectual historical perspective but it’s been surpassed subsequently.

Oh? Why do they come up in SETI? I've been trying to demonstrate various Schelling Point like conditions (and inversions) in my model. So, contexts removed from the one's I've thought over (too many times) would be very helpful to me!
