2/ I could be wrong here -- and, maybe some neuroscientist friends could chime in -- but phone activities feel like MORE *cognitive* and *emotional* effort than TV, a passive medium notorious for sucking up human attention by dolling out simulated payoffs.

3/ Maybe it's partially a function of the phone's affordances never being more than a pocket (or charge) away from accessible. But, Phone ≻ TV seems to be a strong and intuitive indictment of a malignant, chronic, and synthetic salience.
