We know memory doesn't record facsimile experiences. When, say, a witness states their recollection of an event, the reconstructions are error-prone. The Asch Experiment is a good precursor. People conformed to the social expectation. To do so, they need rationalizations and coherent explanations. I need a good term though and I'm sure it exists!
