I got really big into Skeptical YouTube™ a few years ago, when I realized I was an atheist. Lately, it seems that the popular YooToober skeptics are mostly skeptical of anyone's claim to be doing things for reasons other than self-interest.

In a certain sense, almost all human behavior probably does distill down to self-interest/self-preservation or at least preservation of kin, but I admit it is a narrow view, like being skeptical that anything but quarks exist. Technically probably true, but not really descriptive

I guess I was a New Athiest in my teens. But, oh, it's so much worse than that now. YouTube Skeptics (TM) seem to mostly be skeptical of any human decency, and the idea that brown people may be people, too.

Sorry I’m late...I don’t like the “skeptic” label but I practice skepticism as a first position. Used to be Devil’s Advocate by Default but that’s just a polite way of calling yourself an asshole. Would “scientific” be an appropriate label?
