It looks like it's hanging up trying to decode an ASCII space character. Perhaps malformed input/stream putting a " " at the head of the data stream where it's not expected? I'm not an expert, though, and my response probably makes that abundantly clear.

I know I've gotten similarly weird errors when trying to stream XML into a function if it gets a rogue tag along character at the head of the stream.

It's better than the old Windows error message: "error. Xyz application encountered an error. The error was: NO_ERROR (-1)" :)
