1/ A quick thread on perception: I just had a retinal migraine. I get 'em about 1-2 times a year. They are *fucking weird*. It's a sudden-onset and soon-dissipating blindspot. But, just like your normal optic nerve blind spot, it's *out-of-awareness*.

I get rainbow zigzags that foretell the epicenter of the blind spot… they ripple out. Just me?

Huh. They’re what I notice first, but then the blind spot doesn’t jump out at you by definition, so perhaps it *is* there first. For me, years can pass between noticeable episodes. Then again, I’m the sort who doesn’t notice most earthquakes.

Yes, that's what I've experienced a few times. Like, suddenly I'll notice wavy something and I'll be like, oh, so that happened?

Since I run across a discussion even less often: I can sometimes and others not, determine which eye is experiencing the rainbows (it’s easier if/when the blind spot has achieved a wide arc of the view).

Hrm. Interesting. Never really tried to disambiguate.

Yep. Sounds like what I experience. I’m now 30 minutes in so the nom-existent vision area is now shimmering light to be followed by a massive headache
