I think that's probably not a bad workflow. Test quickly then optimize.

Yes. Esp because I consider myself to be mathematically weak. Saves lots of time by shaping where my errors will be.

Yea. It's been a while since I read CSS critiques, but I always liked the approach. One-sided error is nice, esp. when it means less labor.
