2/ Like, the whole thing is you don't know what is and what is not useful unless you both know about the feature *and* have your brain not avoid it for lack of muscle memory (cache-miss cost). (Key Promoter X was good to start thought: https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugin/9792-key-promoter-x …)

3/ I really do think there's an opportunity to extend this space though. The risk is an assistant that feels like Clippy. But in the same way Bayesian auto-complete/suggest works in IDEs, I think you can have inferred "better" actions induced over user data.

I tried really hard to learn and use VSCode but I keep going back to Emacs after about 30 minutes. Practicing a new editor is frustrating.

Yea. And I think the learning curve is exacerbated if you have a lot of experience in one already. Like if JetBrains didn’t have vim emulation, I wouldn’t have even tried
