"Conservative" isn't so much an ideology, but the weary accumulation of history and experience congealed in relatively heavy priors. It's the rejection of unconstrained adaptability — and a uniform space of socio-political possibilities — manifested in politics.

I don't see conservative/liberal as inherently moral. There is a lot of smart stuff in our culture/history. There are lots of new ideas that aren't great. There is some dumb stuff that gets handed down just because. There are some great new ideas (treating each other kindly?)

I think they're loss functions that we twist into morality because it's convenient and useful to do so but in the process it often creates something destructive when you assume time-homogeneous relevance. The struggle for "better" and "good" was, is, and will ever be a struggle.
