2/ I think Sonya and I see the world differently in some critical ways, but I can suspend my disbelief and listen to her pretty easy *because* I've met and generally like her. Like, there is a lot of elasticity in that connection.

@eigenrobot idk at all, but have followed long enough to know that we have a lot of overlap in beliefs — and also some pretty giant and highly antagonistic parts. I think liking a few of his tweets have got me on block lists, but it's been good (and often fun) variance for me.1 reply 1 retweet 16 likesShow this thread -

@PereGrimmer is exactly on my boundary. I've unfollowed a few times because he's said some shit that I thought was just too shitty. But then found myself following again because he was saying something that *no one* in my network was saying yet I also thought was worth saying.2 replies 1 retweet 24 likesShow this thread -

I’m fascinated by how differently people use this site. It takes me forever to follow an individual, but once I do I generally will not unfollow them unless I wouldn’t talk to them again in person. Not saying that’s a better approach, just one reflecting different values.

Mine is exactly the opposite -- hive like? I follow very promiscuously. If you say something interesting, to me or to a mutual, I generally quickly. If you repeatedly say something I think is shitty, I'll unfollow.

Also have a script for unfollowing non-mutuals who never interact with me and for whom I seem to never interact with anymore either. Run it every few weeks. Same thing -- not better, but it's how i use it.
