1/ The question I'm struggling with the most for my @ycombinator app is, "why are you a solo founder?"
The honest answer is timing.
I won't and don't want to be one, but the opportunity came up fast, and not making a horrible very long-term mistake means recruitment isn't.

Wooh, lots of thoughts...Cofounding is a marriage. It takes time to build that relationship. So, ask people you already know or start dating by asking your friends if they know anyone who is single.

In the short run, YC can be a good place to meet potential co-founders and finding co-founders should be part of your work plan if you get in.

Yea, that's how I see it, too. There network expands my reach for making a good match. If I don't get in, it shrinks, but the problem is the same.

What I want to work on is very much in the "What I want to DO with my life" region of activity space so the marriage analogies I always heard before suddenly make concrete sense to me. <P.S. I can't like tweets right now so, implicit explicit>
