Hot take: Video conferencing isn’t post peak in terms of still-growing metrics but it kinda is post peak. Novelty and exigency drove it to dizzying heights but it’s the medium equivalent to 3D movies.

Not super confident that’s right but I think there is something to the analogy because both mediums try to simulate “the real thing” without extending much.

Way worse for 3D movies. Video conferencing at least extends presence so that geography isn’t a constraint. And it does solve many real needs. But a huge portion of those needs its solving due to covid are 3D movie level.
