I have a @ProjectJupyter lab instance bound to a permanent port that I've used for about two years now. One folder has daily notes; another one called scratch gets cleared out every 48 hours (relative to mtime).
Easily one of my best workflow habits.
I always have a bunch of jupyter lab instances running. If I have to hunt for the correct one, it's enough friction that I may decide "meh, this ephemeral idea doesn't need a quick exploration."

Why multiple instances? I usually just have 1 and multiple tabs with different notebooks open.

I do mine per-project, with a per-project conda env or venv

Ahh, yah that makes sense. I kind of feel like my workflow around jupyter and notebooks could be better ... But I'm like 1800 times more productive with what I currently do than anything else I've tried so ... Inertia
