Before going to Vegas for the first time, someone explained to me that the temperature wasn’t too bad because it’s “a dry heat.” It sounded nonsensical but I gave them the benefit of doubt because they sounded so confident. Turns out observable confidence is a near useless cue.

That's unfortunate. Can't say I have anywhere near that problem -- I biked across Nevada in low-100s, at a 90-100mi/day pace, back in 2012. Drank and carried 200oz. water for stretches...
