What are the best exploratory models of COVID? Strictly for pedagogical familiarity. Like, Schelling's model isn't actually a good one for most observed patterns of segregation, but you can learn important segregation dynamics from it. What's the COVID equivalent?

I feel like this is kicking the behive a bit but I don't intent to. I just mean, it's been a while now; a lot of people have tried to understand with their tools; and, some of these tools are open. Which one seems best? [Even excel is fine if it conveys something critical well]
