Mention hygiene is hard. For example, soft-blocking people who routinely sea-lion people you retweet is a a good, community act. But the more follows you have, the more "your space" becomes a public one, and that's hard to navigate sometimes.

Like, if you don't have a lot of follows, mentions *are* how you engage with people outside your space. Harassment is the downside. EVERYTHING ELSE CAN BE UPSIDE!

It's sometimes a nuisance and often a lot of work. And, I wish twitter allowed alternative clients for better management. But the tendency to view your mentions as your position can twist you up in bad ways, too.
