Just spoke with a medical scientist friend in New York who is really scared. He says people don’t understand graphs, we need to show images from inside the hospitals.

I saw some of them, too. They won’t because of HIPAA but everyone illegally sharing inside videos is probably saving lives. I started taking it seriously and reading obsessively initially out of sheer terror from seeing Wuhan videos — and it’s not like I don’t get stats.

Not a mistake. It's never bad to take the true measure of the world we live in. This is as good a time as any to see things that stray beyond the control of the sheltered reality that pervades the average first world, urban, academic milieu... We are all in this together.
