2/ I think I readily interpreted it as a wildly exaggerated non-problem because the *most visible* proponents of the "it's bad" view also tended to be loud about their insistence on not-caring about people in other contexts.

3/ But me relying on that background knowledge and assumption of (very often correct) bad faith arguments doesn't not mean the harm wasn't real or that other people who do care weren't making the same one. So...cringe irony.
