Start one of the mini series, not the books chronologically! My favorites are the witches (equal rites is the first one), deaths family (starts with Mort), or the guards series (guards guards is the first). If you like that, read the others in that set!

The witches books are about myths and the magic of ordinary people, the death books deal with concepts like death and time and how to handle them, and the guards books are about how to be a good force in a changing world. So:epic sagas, conceptual adventures, or politics?
