There's a bit more to it than just movement conservatism. For some, Genesis 1:26 (god gives man dominion over nature) means that they must be seen to live in a way that requires this biblical justification or else they risk being seen as not bible-believing enough.

I have trouble believing that God would fill the big beautiful world full of false and misleading facts about the nature of things. If we can see it and measure it, it is probably a thing. One of the best arguments for the existence of God is: *gestures at big beautiful world*
