1/ There's something I've been trying to put into words but I don't know how yet. Maybe some folks on here (STS people?) can help me?

So, what are you saying? People build what is technically doable, which is not necessarily what is needed or desireable in a larger context, or from a wider perspective?
-
e.g. you build something that works today, but is clearly not sustainable in the long run. So, have you really solved anything?

I don't know if the argument against automation has really been said in a way that technologists would accept. I mean much of it is reinventing the wheel but we have always done that. Folks will say the market will take care of things, yet it doesn't, not exactly. So I dunno!
