Granted it may just be a path of least resistance thing. Pairing something serious with a funny makes acceptance effortless. Isolating the serious something and relying on intellectual or moral appeals and sometimes badgering requires effortful reception let alone acceptance.

I think that's true insofar as "yes, please, do that" but even edgelords use humor to import new into their bits. I just don't like them.

I agree, but I think it can be subversive in a negative way as well. Humor is a dopamine back-door for getting someone in a suggestable state to consider a new idea - even if that's Dave Chapelle doing shitty stuff like telling trans people to "wait your turn" for rights
