Collaborative filtering is a class of algorithms used to solve the problem of insufficient demand from the perspective of whoever is doing the selling. It’s collaborative in a convoluted way, and filtering in a confused one. See also: Hastings Limit.

Yep. Twitter's timeline "what you missed" recs I often find good. I also found the Instagram post on feed ranking interesting, claiming significant increase in likelihood to actually see posts from your close connections.
