Unlike the marshmallow test you also have to consider that you will possibly make the soup far too hot by continuing.

This is so true. And if I choose to continue heating, it often overheats which reinforces my decision to eat lukewarm soup the next time

100% don’t do this, but I always think of “superheated” water or distilled water/deionized water with no impurities that’s heated beyond boiling point. Like I feel soup is like this ... lukewarm or boiling hot
