Peter Watts (I see someone already mentioned Blindsight so let me reiterate). Exhalation was pretty great. Ted Chiang in general is great.

Petulant Fig Nemesis (Mark 11:12-14) Retweeted Greg Egan
Ooh, too late to squeeze Greg Egan in? Possibly the crunchiest hard SF I've ever read. Got a new book out too https://twitter.com/gregeganSF/status/1220638322600509441?s=19 … (Forgive me if this is too painfully obvious for words)
Petulant Fig Nemesis (Mark 11:12-14) added,
Greg Egan @gregeganSF[1/2] My new eBook, INSTANTIATION, has 11 stories: • “The Discrete Charm of the Turing Machine” • “Zero For Conduct” • “Uncanny Valley” • “Seventh Sight” • “The Nearest” • “Shadow Flock” • “Bit Players” • “Break My Fall” • “3-adica” • “The Slipway” • “Instantiation” pic.twitter.com/2uveQZgWtoShow this thread1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

Hrm. I've seen it in multi indie book stores now with recommendation tags. Guess I should have read them!

Ya know, I think i have that somewhere. I think I bought it for the plane ride to my defense and then just reread more of my thesis instead. Gotta be around though...
