Organizing anything is exhausting. Trying getting a team (unique individual programers) to agree where to go out to lunch/dinner is frustrating enough. That said, there are a million silly voting web apps out there now you can blast an email list with and get real time feedback.

That's why I organize workshops instead. You get to meet everyone and go to fun places. And it's not as much work.

I think it sounds like fun (and, yes, also exhausting) and I would love to do it one day. Perhaps there's something wrong with me... I would MUCH rather organize an entire conference than speak at one
