2/ So you can forge ahead anyway and build a niche product. But, then you have business sustainability issues. And if you're just doing it as OSS/side-project, you have longevity issues, too.

3/ So, if you care about these things and want to build for them, competitive pressures conspire against you. To succeed, you have to create a great product that happens to implement the level of privacy that you believe matters systemically but is irrelevant to your bottom line.
