There are lots of great languages and you should use whatever works for you (and your use case) but holy hell do I love #python.

I was always a perl guy and python made no sense to me ... until I tried to do something object oriented in perl and quickly bailed out of that idea. Python worked so much nicer and cleaner and I never looked back. (Also hard to go back to C++ after spending all day in python.)

Yea, I was never a big C++ fan. The STL/Templating seemed like a kludge built upon a tower of kludges. But I do remember that feeling, too. And Cython gets you surprisingly far when you need to scratch that performance itch.

Languages have a synesthetic quality. In C++ I picture expressions as tiny little razor blades you have to assemble, and it always makes your fingers bleed. Python is all these rubber coated magnetic pieces, and they snap easily and safely together.

PHP, everything has little threads hanging out that quickly get tangled. Node is a very complex house of tiny, slippery cards. One wrong move and poof.
