No-so-oddly-enough, back in my rails days, I had experimented with django a few times and I really disliked python. They're similar languages but one of them embraces magic like a magician would and the other uses it wearily. I'm very much appreciate easy code comprehension now.

(Albeit not so much that I want the explicitness of, say, Java). Anyways, I'm mostly sitting here wondering if, had I never gone the phd ∪ data science route, would I still dislike Python?

Yeah but R tho

I enjoy python more but the work that
@rstudio /@had et al. did with tidyverse made it much more competative (for me). Plus...@dataandme is pretty cool. - 4 more replies

I haven't in a long time and when I did it was just for dataframe sharing. IIRC, I think
@badnetworker does (did) a lot of it? -
I don't really use them together per se, just jump back and forth as needed.

I'm always glad to hear there are people who love
#python, because I am mostly a C/C++ programmer and still at the beating-my-head-against-it stage with python. You give me hope that one day I will love it, or at least not loathe it. -
Not loathing it is a good bar if it's something you're being forced to use!
