I mean that it’s clear Trump’s statements cannot be taken literally. Attacking them at the object level just looks increasingly naive. He’s an entertainer. A showboater. He can’t be beaten with

Even more than that the unthreatened beneficiaries need to stand up and say, “yea guys a monster tearing at society in terrible ways.” But same problem — they’re not going to do so so it’s a useless prescription.
