Shoulderband: Handsomest of Snails. 19/pic.twitter.com/VnmJ57vgIs
These snails are making squish-face and/or retreating into their shells because I've just turned over the rotting wood they were sheltering under. I expose them for a short time - typically 30-90 seconds, never in full sun - to photograph before putting right back in place. 20/pic.twitter.com/3In6PYQDBQ
I found more Shoulderbands than I could photograph today, often several under the same bit of rotting wood. 21/pic.twitter.com/EC6jdLfdol
Blessing your timeline with a pooping Shoulderband.

This is the first Redwood Sideband (Monadenia infumata) I've seen along this trail. Found tucked into a crevice on a Coast Live Oak, too high for a tripod. Had to get this one handheld. 23/pic.twitter.com/28ioLHNLrW
And now we arrive at zero feet. Empty snail shell. So thin & sheer it seemed to glow. Maybe Haplotrema? 24/pic.twitter.com/00Jjz4gyOq
Back around to infinite feet: The forest. Pacific Madrone, Coast Live Oak, Douglas-fir. Maybe some California Bay Laurel in there too. 25/pic.twitter.com/gm413SfIkC
I leave you with this magnificent tree again. Quercus agrifolia, the Coast Live Oak. 26/26pic.twitter.com/ebMcMREAZf
