At age 19 I had a rare cancer. The reasonable, statistical expectation was it would kill me with a gradual increase in disability. I am fantastically lucky. Still here; no disability. Turns out, helplessly watching someone you love experience relentless and chronic pain is worse.

I've said this before but it's still unreal to me. When anyone says they're dealing with chronic pain, take that shit very seriously. Just because they look fine, does not mean they're not fighting a very real war.

Thanks, it’s a humbling experience, to say the least, and now I have much more sympathy towards others that have a much more difficult time than myself, and am learning to be much more patient with my own body and limitations.
