1) Doesn't take into account cash tips (personal preference to avoid Uber skimming off driver tips) 2) States that prior to 2017 customers were "free to give tips" but couldn't through app. IIRC, it was actively discouraged, which (unfortunately) embeds this behavior in users

this stuff's super weird for me as an Australian who's used to never tipping for anything (because living wages), so i tend to go the other direction and always tip 20%.

Wow. It never occurred to me people suck this much. The majority of income on these seems to come from tips, given the constant drops in pay.
