Something that's really fun is how often non-academic researchers ignore academic ones and academic researchers ignore non-academic ones, even when they're studying the exact same thing. It's super cool.

Seriously folks. Parallel discovery and forking paths are cool and all, but a lot less so when the reason motivating mutual ignorance is defense of a perceived territory.
