Maybe logicbros? Mostly I think staunchly binary is a measure of a person’s social distance to something (too close or too far, really). But even for polarized contexts you can get people to progressively relax their collapse to binary by elaborating.

Having interacted with a lot of churchgoers and progressives has put me in contact with many people drawing very bright lines who then willfully condemn anyone on the other side with statements like, "Sometimes it is just that simple."

Similar to the Aelkus black box mistake. Doing this is indeed inevitable, which is why just doing it *ever* isn’t bad. Failure to recognize that this is even a thing or to consider it as a possibility is what’s bad.
