What programming tool / practice changed your life more than version control? Looking for some big wins that I've somehow missed.

A couple things to add: In extremis, don't forget that your code might NOT be at fault. In extremis, make sure you're debugging the version of the code you THINK you're debugging. Gawd, I've wasted so much time on this. I've learned to watch out for it, and to teach it.
