I use vscode and occasionally will test some of it with the Jupyter or cell extension. Best of both words.

Ah, I have a similar workflow. I'm generally
@ProjectJupyter first but quickly move working code to a tested package/module in that same directory that I hack on in@pycharm before extracting to an isolated project.

I really like http://observablehq.com 's notebooks. Jupyter supports multiple languages, but the server requirement is awkward. Observable is Javascript (adapted), and lets you make use of other notebooks, everything runs in your browser.

The repo I pointed to for my unit test discussion is the intended destination for utility code I collected in doing some stuff in an Observable notebook.
