I keep trying to learn Spanish every time I’m about to travel. I learn enough to not get too lost but then fall back on google translate. I stop learning when I get back

I want to learn Dutch, because it's the first language of the person I love! I'm doing a mix of trying to regularly read Dutch Twitter, making the person I love teach me to say annoying things, Dutch children's books, and duolingo. It's going.... Slowly.

That is such a romantic reason and motivation for learning a language! This just made my heart
so happy. I love, love! Have a most snuggly, lovey Sunday with your love! - 1 more reply

Duolingo is a free app that has German! I use it to keep up my own practice.

I've been trying to learn Spanish (properly) since I was 14. It's one of the most spoken languages in the world and every single neighbouring country to mine speaks Spanish, it's ridiculous that we don't make more of an effort (or any at all). Also, French and Swedish.
-
Twinsies! I've been working on Spanish since about 14 too (I'd say I'm bilingual but not that I'm done learning) French and Swedish are also my on-again-off-again L3 projects

Hebrew. The liturgy is more meaningful to me in the original, it would be easier to communicate w family in Israel whose Russian isn't as strong, and I could then meme in a 3rd language. Progress has been happening in fits and starts. Last trip I could at least read the signs
Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

I have been interested in Portuguese because I sometimes I watch percussion videos in Portuguese from Brazil, and my Spanish only takes me so far. I’ve only done some Duolingo, but haven’t really put in the effort.
-
I’d also like to learn more than a few words of German. I worked there in Germany for a few months but wish I had taken a class or something to better prepare.
