My favorite accounts on this hellsite are people who, - post about things they understand deeply while also, - frequently shitpost in the wheelhouse of their weird.

I think like 30 or so? I try not to look at them though because most are from
#phdlife /#phdchat and since I chose not to go into academia, I feel like I abandoned a really fantastic community that helped me so so much :/1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

That's not abandonment! There are always other options. That's just a slice

Yea. It didn't fit with what I want to do next so it was barely a choice. Still, I didn't fully appreciate how strongly leaving would affect me (although seeing some of
@dataandpolitics posts helped cushion the blow, I think). Like, I still want to be part of that effort, too.0 replies 0 retweets 1 like -

Good things. I think a lot of your posts about "if you're exiting academia and want advice" prepared me by at least making me recognize it isn't actually easy to...idk, let go?

Yep. Not letting go is hard. Hence still being here. Technically been at Uni since 1997 w/ just some summers doing other jobs. Even did jobs working in the Science library!
