So very often I think, “fuck it I should do yc.” So much energy and talent is drawn there. Then pg tweets stuff and my aversion is at least momentarily reinvigorated.

I struggle a lot with even mild tangential attack’s on free speech. I think systemic chilling effects are real risks. Shit, I *want* to be an absolutist. But, at any given moment, I can find a receptive and often paying audience for any vile and lamentable idea imaginable. So...

What’s your hesitation in backing “free speech has no limits (barring illegal speech eg inciting violence or libel). People should be allowed to say any bad opinion they want. Becomes much easier to make obvious how undeveloped (to put it nicely) their misguided “theory”

I'd prefer mostly doing the latter while attending an appropriate amount of energy to the latter. For online stuff, I'm no longer comfortable with bans even though I'm quite enthusiastic about "banning the nazis."
