I took an 8 week mindfulness course (MBSR) because multiple Dr.s told me nothing was wrong - there was no reason for my pain. I finally got an MRI ordered and a diagnosis in the middle of MBSR. That was over a year ago. I'm starting to have more good days. Chronic pain sucks.

also: relationship to trauma is under-studied. sometimes, I think, chronic pain is the result of "armoring" or clenching muscles as an anxiety or fear response. Some people just never don't do that, and it causes a lot of pain.

Yea. I mean, some of the literature I've read for the particular case that prompted this seems to be really explicit about that.

I’m glad the old remedies work for me: cool soaks, ice water, slow steady breaths, sleep, gross motor movements. After a year managing chronic pain, I was pleasantly surprised to discover an effective pain reliever in the form of a drink: earl gray ice tea with coconut milk.

Everyone has to find their own balm but reducing chronic inflammation is everything.
