Yeah I think that, when somebody is constantly told how smart they are and are held up as some shining example of intellectual, they start to lose context and believe that they know everything - even for things way outside their speciality.

Yea it def is both. I guess I should say the I believe the position’s info environment dominates. Grab a random person and put them in that position by magic, they’ll get disoriented just the same.
