Academic friends in social sciences! (And them alone, please.) Are you using a graph database in your network analyses?
I'm guessing chemistry doesn't have as strong a need for big data scale graph dbs...although I'm also sure i'm wrong somehow

<nod>, for much of the discipline, probably. However -- I don't know for sure, but I suspect chemoinformatics might. Chemical conformation space (the space of all chemically reasonable molecular configurations) is one hella hairy thing to try to get a grip on.

Depends if biochemistry counts? Molecular biology can be complicated sometimes.
