I never appreciated playing music as a child — I think because I never got to experience it *as* play. Now I really want to know what’s it like being able to communicate with and relate to other people through an instrument.

. I think a lot about how parents can give lifelong gifts to kids in the form of excitement & competence in things like music. I'm really grateful for the things I picked up when I was younger, when maybe things are easier to pick up.
