2/ Why? Because I've heard endlessly from tech people in this area (especially those in the C-suite), "I unfollow people who talk about politics." On one hand, I think that's self-indulgent bubble logic; on the other, it's exhausting, so I get it (even if I don't approve.)

4/ Again, I don't necessarily think it will and I certainly don't think it's a great way to condition expression, but the incentive structure exists and for all the bullshit "virtual signalling" assertions, at least in tech there's a chilling effect. I want to make that go away.
