Actually, I think I'm going to *not* add blocking capabilities to what I'm building. There are already a lot of things that do that, and mutes with stochastic timeouts provides for forgiveness in a network healing way... ...I think.

Being able to block people is good, actually. You shouldn't only pay attention to what the people being blocked had to say about it. You should pay attention to what the people who did the blocking thought.

And, no, muting people for random periods of time doesn't provide "forgiveness". Thinking that it *does* suggests that you fundamentally misunderstand what being forgiven *is*. I don't *forgive* someone because I lack the capability to avoid them anymore.

What blocking tools do you want that I can build that don't already exist?

I'd like people to be able to leave notes as to *why* they blocked someone. I'd also like there to be a prominent count of how many people had blocked someone. I'd like it if you could set-up auto-blocking tools -- if you could say "if X blocks someone, I don't want to see them

either", or "if more [number of people] have blocked someone, I don't want to see them". Tech bro-y types (cough, cough) seem obsessed with stopping people from ignoring them, but pretty much everyone else wants more and better tools for ignoring assholes. If you can build that

you'll be successful. If you seem intent on building yet another """free speech""" social media platform, then all you're doing is building a place for assholes.

Yea. You wildly misinterpeted my OP but tweets are low-context so I just kinda chose to reframe your replies as non-aggressive.

Here's what I've written previously on percolating blocks,https://dispatches.artifexdeus.com/block-tweets-bafe2b9a66bf …

But, as I'm doing research, I'm finding a litany of existing auto blocking tools — and reading about all the problems they induce.

This part, "I'd like people to be able to leave notes as to *why* they blocked someone." was one of my previous ideas that I still love, but not from the "why am I blocked" perspective. Mostly, I want to be able to propagate causes because automatic has too many problems.

E.g. "Ben Shapiro said [quote tweet] and there is no reality in which thats useful information so engage [block] [mute]."
