I still don’t think there is a good argument against an *immutable* edit button. Like keep the original and it’s snowflake ID, but propagate the edit with a clear and persistent reference to the parent, just like a threaded tweet but more obvious.

I think the biggest risk comes from the idea that it may make wild clickbait claims *less* costly. Like, “oh whatever, we can issue a retraction chain tweet, who cares.” But it’s not like there is much restraint now, and propagating corrections may innoculate a big cohort.
