Before I had surgery to remove the cancerous tumor from my head, I read the radiologist’s report. After describing the tumor, he used language like, “clival scalloping is unimpressive.” So much of high brow commentary reads like that while carefully avoiding talk about the tumor.

Yup. The doc & I had a deal. "Just tell me like it is." His commitment: "Fine. When I tell you it's bad, it's bad...but when I tell you something that is good, you MUST give both fair weight." Too often, we gravitate to the 'bad' and don't embrace the news as much when it's good!
