Not only is this joke based on my true story, but I considered selling packages to preppers because they seem to believe and buy all sorts of things that allow them to imagine future agency instead of doing anything about the world now.

We’re stocked up on water but I should probably stop eating our emergency food every time I can’t be bothered cooking (it’s so convenient). My partner survived the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake without power, gas, internet, or tap water for weeks. They were not this prepared back then.
